UC football team announces 2022 season schedule

CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati football team is scheduled to open the 2022 season at the University of Arkansas on September 3. The program announced its full schedule on Thursday afternoon.

This will be the Bearcats’ first-ever game with Arkansas and UC’s first regular-season game against a Southeastern Conference opponent since traveling to Knoxville to fight Tennessee in 2011.

The Bearcats (13-1 in 2021) return 12 starters and are led by consensus reigning National Coach of the Year Luke Fickell after making a trip to the 2021 College Football Playoffs when they lost to the top seed. number 1, Alabama. Fickell has agreed to an extension which will be approved by the board on Feb. 22. The extension would keep him at Clifton until 2028.

UC has the second-longest home winning streak in the nation (27 games) at the start of the upcoming season. The Bearcats’ home opener is Sept. 10 against Kennesaw State.

The Bearcats will host five more games at Nippert Stadium, including Indiana (September 24), South Florida (October 8), Navy (November 5), East Carolina for a Friday Night game (November 11) and Tulane (November 11). November 25 or 26).

UC plays the University of Miami on September 17 in the 126th Victory Bell battle at Paul Brown Stadium. The RedHawks are the home team for the annual rivalry series which is tied at 59-59-7 overall.

The Bearcats, two-time defending American Athletic Conference champions, begin conference play in Tulsa on Oct. 1 and travel to Southern Methodist University (Oct. 22) and the University of Central Florida (Oct. 29) in consecutive weekends after a bye.

The team’s final road trip of the regular season will be at Temple (November 19). The American Athletic Conference championship will take place on December 3.

UC is 44-7 since the start of the 2018 season.

The Bearcats will host their annual spring game on April 9 at Nippert Stadium with a time to be determined. Spring football opens in early March.
