The 2023 recruiting cycle is already in full swing for the Florida State football team, as the Seminoles welcomed a large number of recruits in January and many more throughout March.
FSU has five commitments in place for Class 23, and the Seminoles would like to make an effort with many more over the course of this spring and summer.
With that in mind, we wanted to take a closer look at 10 key targets FSU needs to impress this spring — prospects that could make a big difference if the Seminoles can earn them. Or in some cases, win them back.

The Lean on Baxter; Why FSU Must Impress
Florida State has certainly welcomed some good prospects lately, including four-star running back Daylan Smothers. But if there’s one comeback the Seminoles really need to head to campus this spring, it would be Baxter. He is a former FSU employee who grew up as a fan of the program. He has also visited FSU three or four times a year, but has not returned this year so far.
Baxter is one of the nation’s top talents and arguably the best running back in Florida State. He has a great mix of speed and power and would be a huge win in the recruiting battle for the ‘Noles. Baxter has visited Florida, UCF, Miami and Southern Cal, so it’s imperative the Seminoles bring him back to campus this spring or early summer to solidify their chances. Baxter has yet to name a leader, and my sources say the main reason he visited UM and UF was because he hadn’t had the opportunity for detailed visits there yet.
Baxter visited FSU for a game last year, and from what I’m told, he’s very sold on what Norvell is doing with the program. But the Seminoles clearly need to bring him back to campus, and nothing has been planned yet.
