Birmingham City are getting closer to signing Manchester United winger Amad Diallo, according to a report by The Daily Mirror claimed.
Diallo joined United from Atalanta in Serie A in January 2021 for a 25 million euros in fees declared, which could reach 40 million euros with the add-ons.
Since then, the 19-year-old has made nine first-team appearances for United, scoring once, but has yet to appear in the league this season.
As a result, it now looks like the teenager is set to move elsewhere this month as he seeks to gain more first-team experience.
Which club did Birmingham recruit these 28 midfielders from?
According to this latest update, Birmingham are set to complete the winger’s signing, on a temporary basis until the end of the season.
If confirmed, Diallo will become the third Manchester United player to join Birmingham on loan this season.
Forward Tahith Chong took the step back this summer and impressed before suffering a serious injury that has left him sidelined in recent months.
Center-back Teden Mengi, meanwhile, made the same move at St Andrew’s early in the current transfer window.
Birmingham currently sits 18th in the league standings, eight points ahead of the relegation zone.
It looks like a very good deal for Birmingham.
The Blues are in rather poor form right now and will need to strengthen if they are to prevent a nervous second half of the season from being dragged into a relegation battle.
Diallo having already shown a lot of promise and ability during his time with United, he is certainly a player who could help Lee Bowyer’s side avoid such a situation.
Indeed, with Birmingham now considering a third United loan deal this season, it looks like a connection could form between the two clubs which could benefit both in future transfer windows.
