Moose walked around the SDSU campus near the football stadium and on the field

It’s the first and the goal at the 3-yard line for a moose running free on the South Dakota state campus in Brookings.

A video taken by several people shows a moose on the SDSU campus and Dana J. Dykhouse stadium on Friday afternoon. A video of Dalton Heintz shows the moose in midfield and running towards the end zone before coming out of the sideline at around the 3-meter line and out of the stadium.

At around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, various people on Twitter began posting videos of a moose roaming free on the SDSU campus.

One person who posted video of the moose said police were trying and failed to capture the wild animal.

“The police were trying to scare (the) moose, ran into the Dana J Dykhouse stadium and he stayed here for about 10 to 15 minutes running,” Eric Bunnell told leader Argus on Friday afternoon. “He broke a railing in the stadium, left the stadium and is still at large.”

The video Bunnell posted of the moose running across the field was taken around 3:30 p.m. Friday. At 4:30 p.m. he said the moose were still at large.

Another video poster, Dalton Heintz, said he overheard police trying to herd the moose so they could lull it to sleep by tranquilizing it to move it out of town.

Another tweet showed moose running free at Brookings Thursday night.
