The Mississippi Raiders, Jackson’s new football team, are hosting tryouts this Saturday, Jan.15.
In November, the Raiders announced they would be leaving Hattiesburg to play at Jackson’s Mississippi Coliseum.
“We’re proud to be here, we’re proud to be in this great city, and we’re proud to be in this great state of Mississippi,” said team owner James Germany at the time of the announcement.
Last season’s roster was highlighted by former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Jamal Young and former Buffalo Bills defensive back BT Sanders.
Since moving to Jackson, the team have made two big wins with wide receiver Ishmel Morrow and cornerback Derek “Showtime” Patterson. Patterson has been a 12-year arena football veteran, while Morrow was twice named to the All-Gulf South Conference team while at the University of West Florida.
Saturday’s trials will be held at Madison Healthplex Performance Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, click here.
The Mississippi Raiders are part of the American Football Alliance.
