Midland Football Stadium will soon have a different name by Amy I. Richarson | Posted on January 20, 2022January 20, 2022 Grande Communications Stadium will soon have a different name. The City of Midland announced on Wednesday that Astound Broadband will soon have its name on the football/soccer stadium at the Scharbauer Sports Complex. Grande Communications has changed its name to Astound Broadband powered by Grande, according to a Reporter-Telegram report. A spokesperson for Astound Broadband said in a statement: “Grande Stadium is one of our proudest and most important partnerships. For this reason, we contacted the city early last year to inform them and have since been working with a local contractor on the construction of the new stadium signage. There are plans for Grande Communication Stadium to become Astound Broadband Stadium, but the timeline is likely a few months away. As we get closer, we plan to work with the stadium, city and other local officials to make this a great relaunch of wonderful and continued sponsorship.” The city reported this week that Astound officials reached out last year, “so we can work out some details. It will be like when the baseball stadium banks changed. This is the first time since the opening of the stadium that naming rights have changed. The Scharbauer Sports Complex baseball stadium has undergone some name changes. It opened in 2002 as First American Bank Ballpark. The names that followed were Citibank Ballpark, Security Bank Ballpark and Momentum Bank Ballpark, the current name. “Staying grounded in our deep concern for customer service is at the heart of what we do,” said Jim Holanda, CEO of Astound Broadband, in a statement. “We have been part of our local communities for years. Our dedicated teams will continue to serve the areas where they live and work.
