Hijab ripped off during a fight in a football stadium

Three women allegedly tore the head covering the woman and tore her dress down to her bra.

A woman had her hijab ripped off during a violent fight outside a football stadium in the Northern Territory over the weekend.

Three women allegedly tore the head covering the woman and tore her dress down to her bra, the Northern Territory News reported.

The incident reportedly happened after a Women’s Premier League match between Hellenic and Port Darwin.

An eyewitness described hearing shouting as they left the stadium and said the incident resulted from people from opposing teams making rude hand gestures to each other, which led to a physical altercation.

The players were also said to have been involved in a separate altercation after the match.

“It was just a big mess,” the eyewitness said.

Football NT said in a statement it was aware of the alleged incident and a full investigation was underway.

“Once the investigation is complete, Football NT will then communicate the outcome to all parties involved. Football NT expects a safe environment for players, officials and employees at its venues.

“We will continue to work with all of our clubs to ensure our high standards are met.”

Northern Territory Police have been contacted for comment.
