WFT owner Daniel Snyder had previously been accused of sexual harassment by several women who worked for the team

A series of Washington Post articles published in July 2020 detailed the testimonies of 15 women who had worked for the team, both office workers and cheerleaders, who claimed to have been sexually harassed by Snyder.

The team’s cheerleaders also claimed they were secretly recorded while changing, according to Sports Illustrated.

WFT also paid a former employee a settlement of $ 1.6 million in 2009 after she described an incident of sexual misconduct on Snyder’s private plane.

An investigation was made by attorney Beth Wilkinson who conducted over 100 interviews and collected 650,000 emails that supported allegations of sexual harassment and bullying in the workplace.

The team was later fined $ 10 million as a result of the investigation, which ended in July, and saw Snyder temporarily withdraw from daily operations.
