BBC Essex County Trophy Semi-Final – Report

Hutton Reserves 1-2 Stanway Pegasus

Pegasus came into this game expecting a really tough game, but having already beaten several teams in higher leagues, he hoped they would emerge victorious.

Hutton Reserves did not disappoint, despite a confident start from Stanway. The home side quickly fought back creating several chances and almost taking the lead.

The game has settled into a terrific pattern, especially for the neutral supporter. The deadlock was finally broken when Sarah Jolly’s superb 30-yard free-kick put Pegasus ahead.

The second period followed in the same way. And it was Pegasus who doubled their lead when Jade Clemmens managed to get home under pressure after Jolly fashioned an opening.

Hutton insisted, reducing the backlog in the final minutes. The final promises to be a fantastic occasion. Stanway Pegasus will take on Barking at Burroughs Park, home of Great Wakering Rovers, on Sunday March 27.

All of the visiting side’s pre-match nerves were quickly dispersed when Laura Bunton beat the home team’s offside trap to score the opening goal in a chilling way.

The first half fell to a Barking attacking pattern thwarted by Southend’s brave defense or the linesman’s flag.

The second goal came after 25 minutes in a carbon copy of the first goal, the remainder of the half saw visiting keeper Amy Lewington as a spectator.

The second half saw Barking’s Ammarah Ali dance through the hosts’ defense before being fouled for a Bunton spot-kick sending in the penalty to complete his hat-trick.

Sarah Finch scored the visitors’ fourth goal with a fine left-footed strike just before Bunton netted his fourth to make it 5-0.

The home side scored a consolation goal from a corner before player of the match Barking’s Harrison netted a fine left-footed curling strike to cap off a dominating performance from the visitors.

Barking will now face Stanway Pegasus in the final at Great Wakering Football Club on March 27.
