CEBU CITY, Philippines — The final roster of the Central Visayas Football Association (CVFA) Under-19 football team was officially announced on Friday, April 8, 2022.

The 28-man CVFA U-19 team has been formed to represent the football association for the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) National Under-19 Championship regional playoffs on June 22, 2022 in Cebu.

CVFA U-19 team manager Josephril Partosa told CDN Digital that they have decided to add three more players from their initial roster of 25 players as reserves.

“Why 28 men instead of 25? Para naa pa tay mabunot after the team’s final submission for injuries and all circumstances na dili natu mapugngan,” Partosa said.

(Why 28 instead of 25? So that we can always have a substitute after the team’s final submission for injuries and all circumstances that we cannot prevent.)

The CVFA’s final selection of 28 players was whittled down to 35 footballers after a week-long training camp and trials conducted by the Cebu side. These 35 prospects qualified in a trial that took place from March 23-24, 2022 at Eva Field in Bulacao, Talisay City, Cebu.

The CVFA’s final 28 players consist of 25 Cebu players in Mark Mayor, Zralph Legara, Franz Salimbot, Eugine Tillor, Uriel Villacarlos, Rhey Ann Bontilao, Nathan Lingatong, John Vincent Largado, Stephen Carlo Vazarte, Edgar Paredes III, Zraim Ebrada, Stephen Soria, Paul Mapula, Mathew Suico, Michael Ybanez, Carsten Pumareja, Joseph Garces, Richard Songalia, Ludwig Badayos, Bebong Lamparas, Frances Vercide, Gianrenzo Custado, Simon Andrei del Campo, Mark Lester Zafra and Yoji Selman.

Bohol’s three players are Jonathan Pacaldo, Brylle Marlou Mangubat and Kyrell Bangot.

Regional Eliminations were scheduled to take place on April 18, but were eventually moved to June 22, 2022.

CVFA is grouped with Negros Oriental Football Association and Eastern Visayas Football Association in the upcoming tournament.

Partosa added that the team is looking for a partner or sponsor who can support them until the tournament.

The team will be led by veteran and multi-title soccer coach Glen Ramos along with his coaching staff of Jingoy Roa, Gary Garciano, Jojo Tapia and physiotherapist Nico Quiñones.
