Christopher Vizzina commits to the Clemson Tigers football team

Clemson received a commitment from ESPN 300 quarterback Christopher Vizzina on Tuesday, giving the Tigers football program two promises to its Class of 2023.

Vizzina, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback from Briarwood Christian School in Birmingham, Alabama, is ranked ESPN’s No. 79 prospect. He picked the Tigers from a final slate of Auburn, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Ole Miss.

Vizzina gives Clemson two 2023 top-150 prospect engagements; wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph, the No. 142 freshman in the class, is the other.

This is now the third straight class that Clemson has been able to add a top-100 quarterback. DJ Uiagalelei was the 43rd recruit in the Class of 2020, and Cade Klubnik, who signed with Clemson in 2021, was ranked 29th overall.

Uiagalelei started last season for the Tigers and finished it completing 55.6 percent of his passes, while throwing for 2,246 yards, nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions. With Klubnik as a hot prospect, he will help solidify the quarterback room this season.

Now, with Vizzina signed in 2023, the coaching staff will also have some talented quarterback options beyond the 2022 season.
