Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT) striker Kaite Jones is heading to the United States where she will play for the Northern Oklahoma College Mavericks.
Jones, who is one of Belize’s top players, will surely benefit from this exposure both as a student and as an athlete. Besides the BWNT, Jones, a native of the Orange Walk District, has played for sub-national champions Rumberas and for the Orange Walk Gladiators.
“The Belize Soccer Federation has received a Letter of Intent from the National Junior College Athletic Association for National Team forward Katie Jones to play with Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa!” the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) said in a social media post on Friday.
“Belize National Team Center Forward Kaite Jones has signed with the Mavericks!” tweeted the Tonkawa Football Department of Northern Oklahoma College.
Rumberas said they were celebrating because one of their own was making progress.
“We know the potential you have and today we celebrate this triumph with you,” Rumberas FC said in a social media post.
The FFB said it continues to find opportunities for Belize soccer athletes and continues to promote the development of Belize athletes on and off the pitch.
